Carolina Panthers right offensive tackle Taylor Moton will miss the start of the upcoming NFL season after being diagnosed with a blood clot in a lung, the team announced on Tuesday.

One day before the Panthers begin their pre-season training camp, the team revealed the 31-year-old blocker, preparing for his 10th NFL campaign, would be sidelined.

Doctors discovered the blood clot in June and placed him on blood thinners. The team said he was responding well to treatment and his condition was being overseen by the Panthers medical staff.

Moton is expected to return to the Panthers during the season, which begins for Carolina on September 13 at home against Chicago.

Moton has played in 145 games, 128 as a starter, for Carolina since being selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Panthers will face the Arizona Cardinals on August 6 in the Hall of Fame Game, the traditional NFL pre-season opener.
