Belgian sprinter Philipsen wins Renewi Tour
Home rider Jasper Philipsen powered to overall victory in the Renewi Tour by winning his third stage of the race in Belgium on Sunday.
The 28-year-old, a former winner of the Tour de France points classification, was too strong for Italian Luca Mozzato and the Netherlands' Mike Teunissen at the end of the fifth and final stage around Leuven.
It was a second stage race overall win of the year for Philipsen, who also took the second-tier Tour of Belgium in June, and first-ever on the UCI World Tour.
He finished 14 seconds clear of runner-up and compatriot Jenno Berckmoes in the standings.
"There are few events suited to sprinters at this stage of the season, so I really wanted to do well here on terrain that suits me," said Philipsen.
